Tottenham Hotspur striker Mason Melia has completed a season-long loan move to newly-promoted Championship side Lincoln City. The 18-year-old Irish forward, who joined Spurs for €2million last year, will now gain valuable first-team experience in England's second tier.

Who is Mason Melia?

Melia became the first League of Ireland player sold for over £1million when he moved from St Patrick’s Athletic to Tottenham in January 2026. The 6ft 3in forward scored three goals in six Premier League 2 appearances last season and featured in Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand. He has twice represented the Republic of Ireland and holds the record as the domestic league’s youngest-ever scorer.

Why Lincoln City?

Lincoln City, who won League One with 103 points last season, are making their first Championship appearance since 1961. The club has a history of developing Irish talent, with Jack Moylan, their joint top-scorer last campaign, also coming from the League of Ireland. Melia’s physical presence and goal-scoring record make him an exciting addition as Lincoln aim to compete in the second tier.

What does this mean for Tottenham Hotspur?

With Tottenham finishing 17th in the Premier League last season (41 points, 10W-11D-17L), Melia’s loan move allows him to develop while the club focuses on strengthening their squad. The striker’s progress will be closely watched, especially with key players like Wilson Odobert currently sidelined. His experience in the Championship could prove invaluable for future seasons.
