Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski has pleaded guilty to speeding and faces a potential six-month driving ban. The 26-year-old Swedish international was clocked at 43mph in a 30mph zone in the Limehouse Link tunnel on September 28 last year.

Kulusevski entered his guilty plea via the Single Justice Procedure. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for September 21 at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court. The Metropolitan Police stated the offence could result in at least 12 penalty points on his licence, which would trigger an automatic six-month disqualification.

Dejan Kulusevski has outlined several reasons he requires his driving licence. He told the court his young family needs him to drive them to various medical appointments. "My young family need me to drive them to various appointments and in case there are necessities to go to a hospital with them I have to be on hand," Kulusevski said.

The player also explained his professional commitments make driving essential. He returns from away games very late at night when public transport options are limited. "I also drive to work and back where the hours can be antisocial eg. I return from an away game very late at night," he stated. Kulusevski acknowledged he was over the speed limit but noted his offences were typically just above varying limits in London areas.

Dejan Kulusevski is back in training after missing the entire previous season and the 2026 World Cup through injury. Since joining Spurs in 2022, he has scored 25 goals for the club. His return comes at a challenging time for the squad, which currently sits 20th in the Premier League with zero points from two games.

Tottenham have conceded five goals without scoring themselves, leaving them with a minus five goal difference. They trail league leaders Manchester City by six points already. The team's next match is an away fixture against Nottingham Forest on September 5. Forest are currently 15th in the table.

Kulusevski's potential driving ban adds to a list of concerns for manager Roberto De Zerbi. The squad is already dealing with several injury absences. Forward Richarlison remains sidelined, along with recent signings Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons. Creative midfielder James Maddison is also unavailable, as is winger Sávio.

This leaves Tottenham short on attacking options as they seek their first points of the season. The squad list status can be tracked on our injuries page. The team's poor start has them rooted to the bottom of the standings, creating early pressure.

The legal process will conclude with the sentencing hearing on September 21. Kulusevski did not attend court in person as he is focused on his professional football training following his year-long injury layoff. If he receives the anticipated penalty points, the automatic ban would commence shortly after the court's decision.

This would require the player to make alternative travel arrangements for the duration of the six-month period. Tottenham Hotspur face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on September 5, a match where Kulusevski will hope to contribute as the club searches for a much-needed victory.
