Tottenham Hotspur have recalled goalkeeper Luca Gunter from his loan spell at Boreham Wood with immediate effect. The 21-year-old returns to the club's academy to provide cover for the first team.
Boreham Wood confirmed the decision this week, ending Gunter's stay after 13 appearances. He started 11 matches in the National League, making his competitive debut at home to Tamworth and keeping clean sheets on the road at Forest Green Rovers and Solihull Moors. His performances helped the side push towards the top of the table.
An England youth international, Gunter has previously been named on the bench for Tottenham's senior side in two competitive fixtures. His recall comes as Spurs prepare for a demanding schedule, sitting 16th in the Premier League with six points from seven games. Their record this season shows just one win and three draws from those seven matches, with a recent run of form featuring one win, one draw, and three defeats. The team has scored six goals while conceding ten, leaving them with a negative goal difference of four and a significant fifteen points behind the league leaders.
The move strengthens Tottenham's goalkeeping options. With the team having conceded 10 goals in the league so far, additional depth in that position could prove valuable. Gunter will now rejoin the academy setup at Hotspur Way, aiming to push for further first-team involvement. His next chance to be involved comes with the squad for the Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 24 October, a tough away fixture against a side currently sitting fourth in the table.
